Central to the religious life of the school is the person of Jesus Christ who came among us ‘as one who serves’ (Luke 22.27). Our Catholic school is committed to reaching out to help those in need, through charitable outreach initiatives. All outreach activities connect to the person of Jesus Christ and to the sacraments, especially the Eucharist. Drawing on the Catholic Social Teaching of the Church, we have a deep commitment to supporting a range of charitable organisations, families and individuals in need.
St Thomas More’s Catholic Primary School Brighton-Le-Sands, a charity school, is founded on the belief that we have a responsibility to serve the poorest of the poor, recognising the face of God in all things. As a school community we strive to empower our students to make a positive difference in their world both globally and locally.
There are many ways that we are committed to ensuring we respond to the poor in our world and are advocates for equality. Project Compassion, Vinnies, Christmas Appeals, visits to our local nursing home and other school based initiatives are just some of the ways that we help those in need.
